Tortal began as an idea within the management team of Meineke, Inc. Meineke is one of the leading franchise organizations in the world with over 900 locations. One of the key responsibilities of any franchise organization is to provide training to its franchisees, and in exploring ways to maximize the value of training being provided, Meineke began to explore the opportunities in the on-line training field. "Meineke University" came on-line in early 2000 and has been a great success. The Meineke team saw an opportunity to provide this same level of high quality, easily accessible training
to small businesses everywhere and thus Tortal was born.
